ACI Plans to Extend Reach to the North-East
By

Mumbai, Apr 21, 2006
Mumbai based notebook manufacturer Allied Computers International, ACI (Asia), which has a presence in the western and southern regions, is now scouting for regional distributors in the North and East India.
The company, which has been tapping the channel through the regional distributor-franchisee model, is on the verge of appointing Signet, which has a presence in 33 locations, a franchisee for the N-E region.
Hirji Patel, founder, managing director & chairman of ACI, said, "Apart from Signet, which will be our star distributor, we are also considering Plato Technology for our venture in the North and East."
According to Patel, "ACI endeavors to develop a distribution network by assigning only sub-regional and regional distributors as we want focused partners for our laptop business. National distributors cannot cope up with laptop business totally."
Enlarging on ACI's franchisee initiative, Prashant Kakade, CEO, ACI, said, "The franchisees will not be exactly resellers, but we will make a network of showrooms through them. By tapping regional distributors to be our franchise partners, ACI has moved from 'sell to the distributor' to 'selling through the distributor'."
The company plans to set up service centers next to the distributors to help them offer a better service to end-users. "Like our competitors, we will involve the ASPs in Level 2, but for Level 3, which consists of repairs of parts of laptop, we will do it on our own without involving the partners," Patel added.
ACI intends to invest Rs 2 crore to Rs 2.5 crore for organizing channel activities this year in this region. The company has no plans to move from the regular trend of margins, but would have more of incentive-oriented deals with the channel, Kakade said.

ACI service is really pathetic. ACI needs to train people how to give good service to the customer. The committment given from the operation manager till the Director (Prashant Kakade)are not fullfilled. Since 1 1/2 months my laptop is with ACI and they are not able to get my laptop repaired. I paid Rs.9000 to get my laptop repair from ACI and was under warranty for 3 months. Within a week after the repair done the laptop again stopped working. ACI is not able to get it fixed. Mr.Prashant kakade committed me that they will get this resolved within 6 days or else they will give me a replacement of my configuration. Now its 2 weeks passed nothing is happened. I would request Mr.Hirji Patel to look into this matter. If the company can harass me than they can harass anybody. |
