By

The DI Yatra conducted in Pune observed vendors like Microsoft and Zenith showcasing their products to 65 partners.
Most partners were of the opinion that the increasing number of education institutes has lead to a surge in the sales of IT products.
Commenting on this, Shafiq Sutar, proprietor of J&S Systems and Services, said, "Our major chunk of IT sales come from students, as Pune has become an important academic hub."
On similar lines, Kiran Deshmukh, proprietor of Computer World, stated, "Past few years have witnessed an increase in the number of educational institutes. This has helped in garnering better sales."
Pune's IT market is growing with assembled and branded PCs and laptops - all sharing almost equal space. According to the partners, brands like HP, HCL, Compaq, and Lenovo have succeeded in reaping a fair share in the market.
In the past few months, however, Pune has witnessed an increase in the sale of laptops. "Today customers prefer laptops. The competition has plunged the prices of laptops, which are almost same as desktop PCs," said Nilesh Mahajan, proprietor of Wipro Sales and Services.
According to the partners, apart from a few issues like warranty and after sales service, they haven't faced any major issues.
