Neoteric Targets Rs 100 Cr From Umax Biz

Mumbai-based distributor Neoteric Infomatique is targeting revenue of Rs 100 crore from its Umax business by March 2007 from the current Rs 36-40 crore, according to Vikram Kalia, Umax business manager at Neoteric.

The company is planning to create a new identity for the Umax brand, known mainly for its scanners, but also including products like UPS, memory devices (MP3, flash drive), casings, speakers, TFT-LCDs and keyboard/mouse. Neoteric is planning to package Umax products and promotions with the tag "Max your life" signifying the new focus on the entire range of products. Apart from this, it will also be adding products to the current range.

"Change is always for the good. We had an image that wasn't aggressive. Now with the new identity and go-to-market strategy that we are working on, we intend to be more aggressive. We will be thinking out of the box and adopt the changes required fast," said Kalia.

"Our partners gave us the feedback that we can get better market share. The policies we had right now weren't giving us the right returns that the market can give us. We will be projecting Umax products as not a complete solution, but as being part of any solution," Kalia added.

The company is also consolidating its Umax Specialized Partners, defining go-to-market where specialized partners will be identified for specific products. The company is also aiming to increase its service centers from 22 to 32 by March-end. The new initiatives starting in April are expected to show results in the JAS quarter.

it will be better if the company offer various promotional cooncepts and promotional strategy in order to compete the business environment

We are one of the users of Umax Scanners and we are facing support problems if neoteric's have expansion plans then they should seriouly consider after sales support because Umax support is very poor in delhi India. We are yet to locate a good service provider there is no information even on web regarding the common problems and supporting software and whom to contact in case of need.

Neoteric is doing well with 3rd tiers only. They are very good retail shop keepers, but nothing to do with good dealers. No commitments fullfilled. On that they are very bad services provider. No good dealers wants to buy from neoteric due to this fact.

Mr.Steven Umax, Taiepi: What does it mean to say simply branded UMAX? We buy & sell UMAX only because its UMAX brand - not because its simply branded? Can you please clarify a bit more? It looks like there's some misleading statement made here...

Quality of products like LCD, Webcam....are very bad. Umax had a good name in scanners and they are spoiling that name through these cheap products

in umax neoteric doing directly sells to second layer resellar. simple qty rate & single rate is same. also not doing any promotion for brand image.for pc expo-2006 in surat company not even ready to give rs.5000/- when we alreday doing over 1 lacs billing every month to neoteric for umax.

Bad quality, irratic delivery schedules, almost no service commitments and still Umax is doing 37 crores.... then only one thing is true "God is great". 100 Crores..????

Umax Oh God. Can you show me atleast one lcd is working without any fault ? First change the strategy of carry in warranty. Give onsite warranty to get some takers for it. Please think again before buying a umax lcd
