APC Releases Smart-UPS RT 15kVA, 20kVA Models

APC, an integrated critical power and cooling provider, has introduced its Smart-UPS RT 15kVA and 20kVA models in a space-saving 12U size for rack or tower installations. The double conversion online UPS offers users a flexible electrical configuration of 1:1, 3:1 or 3:3 input/output wiring, which avoids rewiring of the server room or network closet.
The company expects Smart-UPS RT products will help IT and networking managers protect increasingly popular Power over Ethernet (PoE) equipment investments against power overloads, outages, surges and spikes.
The new models are tested and certified for use within APC's InfraStruXure architecture. They support applications such as single high density racks using blade servers, medical imaging and diagnostics, VoIP/IP telephony, industrial or factory floor machinery, RFID and storage equipment. The Smart-UPS RT 15kVA and 20kVA are application optimized. They are compatible with a variety of operating systems and network management platforms.
Dave Johnson, APC's senior vice president of Home & Business Networks, said, "With the introduction of the Smart-UPS 15kVA and 20kVA models, APC continues to address its customers' needs for innovative power supplies offering excellent power quality and performance in an extremely dense form factor. We expect customers will appreciate the improved availability aspects of these new models since they include hot-swappable battery and system fans, dual mains input, and an intelligent 3kW charger that automatically detects additional battery packs and adjusts charging voltage for faster recharge time."
The Smart-UPS' features are divided into 4 key categories:
Adaptability:
High density design in a 6U size that saves space.
Single- or three-phase system offering flexible electrical configuration.
Convertible form factor that allows rack or tower installations.
Availability:
Hot-swappable system fans.
Dual mains input.
Intelligent 3kW charge that detects addition of Smart-UPS battery packs and adjusts charging voltage for recharge time.
Manageability:
Bundled management solutions.
LCD display communicates UPS status allowing fast diagnosis and control.
Serviceability:
Field replaceable panels allow direct connection enabling fast installation of new IT equipment.
The Smart-UPS RT family also offers users to select additional items such as - external battery enclosures, external power distribution units, NetShelter racks and enclosures, service bypass panels, APC Global Services offering onsite service, and management capabilities.
The models will be available later this month from a variety of channels including resellers, contractors and distributors worldwide except in North America and Japan.
