Acer India has partnered with Nvidia to offer CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture) enabled desktops and notebooks to its customers. By harnessing the power of the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) in the computer, performance enhancements are achieved. This paradigm shift, achieved through of heterogeneous computing, where both the CPU and GPU are fully exploited, will become increasingly important for a more efficient way of working. This computing also ensures a 'greener' way of working, resulting in lower energy consumption profiles.
S Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India, said, "Acer and Nvidia as technology leaders have been mutually leveraging each others strengths to provide compelling value propositions to the customer."
Realizing the growing importance of visual computing, Acer has enabled many of its mainstream desktops and notebooks with the power of Nvidia CUDA based GPUs and chipsets without any significant impact on pricing. CUDA-powered Acer Veriton desktops start at Rs. 25,000 and Acer Extensa and TravelMate notebooks in the sub Rs. 45,000 price bands.
Nishant Goyal, Sales Manager (South East Asia), Nvidia, said, "There are already over 100 million CUDA capable GPUs in the world, and we look forward to engaging in an active partnership with a global PC brand like Acer to make this technology even more pervasive. Through this partnership, we plan to continue enabling CUDA in the education space with many value adds including CUDA Labs, course content, training and certification programmes."
