Mumbai, Jun 19, 2009 1108 hrs IST

The Smart Handheld Business Group of Acer has launched its new line of smartphones - X960, DX900, F900, M900 and DX650 - in India. The devices are designed to cater to the demands of increasingly sophisticated handheld users. The phones are available in the price range of Rs. 24,000 to Rs. 36,000.

"As the world's number one in the netbook market and ranked second in the notebook market globally, Acer has become a strong player in the mobile segment, continuing to offer our customers compelling solutions to their mobile requirements. This official launch in India marks the first step of our Smart Handheld Business Group in one of the world's largest and fastest growing mobile market. The Acer's handheld symbolizes our pioneering technological advancement and continued focus on R&D, and these would prove to be a revolutionary product in enhancing the mobile user experience," said Aymar de Lencquesaing, Senior Corporate VP, Acer & President, Smart Handheld Business Group.

The new Acer DX900 model offers a dual-SIM function that allows users to keep track of personal to business communications in one device, while the Acer DX650 features a touch screen on one side and finger-friendly keypad on the other. To cater to consumers seeking multiple features without having to carry several devices, the Acer X960 is the quintessential all-purpose performer, the company said.

In addition, Acer F900 and Acer M900 have been developed to give immersive experience of web browsing on the go. The Acer F900 has a new easy-to-use touch keyboard, and is able to display more information on screen to offer a superior browsing experience. The Acer M900 allows access to all contacts and files through synchronization with a notebook or desktop computer. An embedded biometric fingerprint sensor secures the device and simplifies password maintenance.

"We are embarking on a long-lasting strategic relationship with Acer to drive the Smart Handheld Business Group's products in India. As Acer's partner, we will join forces to bring in their new generation of innovative handheld devices, which are all set to transform the Indian smart handheld market segment," said Rajiv Babbar, Director, Vision Distribution.
