Acer is planning to open about seven service/support centers by the end of this year, closing its yearly target of 100 service centers. These centers will be located at Jammu, Hyderabad, Calicut, Raipur, Dehradun, Ranchi and Patna.
Currently, the vendor has about 93 service centers in the country - catering to L1 support for both laptops and projectors. It also maintains a tech support team to provide L2 support, when needed.
S Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India, said, "We are constantly adding more service centers to support our partners. In a span of six months, we have added more than 50 centers. The new centers show our commitment in improving the services in the B and C class cities."
Acer also has a spare parts hub at Bangalore and a chain of 12 stocking points, which are expected to grow up to 17 centers. He said, "Any query for spare parts are first meted out through these 93 service centers. The stocking points are to aid the service centers in case of shortages and the final back up is the central hub."
Last year the vendor had established a call center, which directly connects to these centers online. So, the customers can put up their complaints before reaching the nearest service centers.
"These centers are run in a franchisee model. We have a strong ASP (Authorised Support Partner) programme for the engineers to give regular training and certification, operational and technical audit, periodic service camps and soft skills training," he added.
