Acer to Run Camps and Set Up More Service Centers

Identifying services as a major thrust area to continue its northbound movement, Acer India will launch service camps across the country to augment customer support systems even as it proposes to raise the number of service centers.
"Acer has been investing a lot of time, money, and resources in customer support and as part of this endeavor we'll now run service camps, especially for the consumer segment," Sudipto Ghosh, general manager (Customer Support) of Acer India told ChannelTimes.
He said the program is expected to be unveiled by the end of this calendar year and will cover at least 20-25 cities, while for corporate and hi-end customers the company will set up on site servicing camps.
According to him, services continued to be an important facet in Acer's marketing and channel program with the vendor having installed a state-of-the-art call center, hi-end CRM software, and a revamped Acer Partner Network software facilities for all its 200 authorized service providers.
"We'll improve the basic infrastructure in services further by enhancing the number of home-grown service centers to 100 from existing 80 for notebooks, and up to 300 from existing 200 for desktops," he said.
Ghosh said the vendor will also roll out a unique Web-based payout mechanism for partners under which all payment-related matters for the channels can be dealt with faster and in more transparent manner.
He also said, there will be an onsite support backup for notebooks for select corporate customers.
Dwelling on various service providing systems of the company, he said, unlike many vendors Acer India is using specially created CRM software 'Clarify' made by US-based Amdocs since 2005 under which the call centers and service engineers can interact effectively and keep tab on things.
Besides these, Ghosh said to help partners and customers easily resolve all their service woes, there's a system in place to receive SMSes and pass them on to call centers for quicker redress of grievances.

These steps are quite appreciable. Whatever be the size or level of the company, untill the company is support oriented, it doesn't stand anywhere.I have personally seen Acer as a Support Friendly Company. The Acer Products are excellent with latest & Fresh Technology & Features. The Price point is very aggressive and value for money kind. The kind of pace Acer is growing, I am sure it will rock the market soon becoming No 3...No 2...& No 1.
