Aditya Sees Big Market For Typhoon & Pinnacle

By Sharmee Roy
New Delhi, Apr 8, 2006

Aditya Infotech has charted out ambitious growth plans for its Typhoon and Pinnacle brand products. The Delhi based distributor has set a target of Rs 100 crore for Typhoon over the next three years.

Aditya Khemka, CEO & director, Aditya Infotech, said, "This year we have already done a business of Rs 20 crore for the Typhoon brand and next year we expect to achieve Rs 60 crore for the brand. We see it as a big brand opportunity in the market."

According to Khemka, there is a huge gap between the number one player and the rest of the brands among the B-category players in the market, and thus offers a big opportunity for its IT business. To take advantage of this potential, the company plans to increase its channel relationships. Currently, it has about 1,400 channel partners.

"Today the B-category brands in the market are doing well only in a particular market or few regions, whereas we want to position Typhoon as a national brand and not just do well in some pockets," Khemka said.

The company is also focusing on Pinnacle especially Pinnacle Media Center, with the home editing catching up. It follows a mix of video and IT channels to push its Pinncale range and is also making investments to set up shop-in-shops for Pinnacle.

Khemka added, "As a policy, now we are not focusing on big brands. We want to concentrate on our brand Typhoon as well as push Pinnacle aggressively in the market. Today Pinnacle contributes about 30 to 35 percent to our revenue."
What do you think of Aditya's brand focus?

With the big presence of Pinnacle already there in the market, Adhitya will have to create a brand awareness for typhoon range of products atleast with the dealers. Also they will have to improve the quality in Typhoon products like external tv tuners, etc
