Adobe Takes the Channel Route For Flex 2
By
Sharmee Roy
New Delhi, Jul 18, 2006
For the first time, Adobe Systems will be pushing its new developer's product, Flex 2, through the channels.
Speaking at the launch function, Dave Gruber, group marketing manager, developer marketing, Adobe Systems, said, "It's been our first major release in two years after Flex 1. Along with this launch, we have also introduced Flash Player 9, which has almost been rebuilt from scratch. This new version will provide users with higher level of control and comes with collaborative data sharing capability."
Through this new launch, Adobe plans to reach out to the masses with the aim of reaching to about a million developers worldwide in the next three years. The vendor has also changed its packaging.
Gruber added, "India is an important market for us since the core Java developers exist here. India is one of our prime targets with heavy investment. We will be working with a series of core partners."
Also with its acquisition of Macromedia, Adobe plans to re-brand Macromedia's all new products and upgrades under Adobe's brand.
Prabhjeet Singh, country marketing manager, Adobe Systems India, said, "This product has a huge potential for the Indian market. This is the first time that we are looking to push a product like this through the channels. With this launch we will also begin sales and technical training in August."
Adobe will be targeting developers across verticals and will be organizing its training program in Bangalore and Mumbai.
