Ajit Pillai Quits WatchGuard
By
Nirendra Dev
Mumbai, Apr 12, 2007
Ajit Pillai, country manager, India & SAARC for US-based firewall security vendor WatchGuard Technologies, has decided to call it a day and would be soon moving in for new assignments.
Sources said Pillai, a renowned channel watcher admired for his amiable personality, would be joining Secure Computing. While the official word is still awaited, grapevine suggests he would be moving in as the country director in the new company.
This brings an end of Pillai's three-and-half year old stint with WatchGuard Technologies.
The appointment is likely to give Secure Computing an edge in pursuance of its business in network security for the fast growing small and mid-size businesses in India, sources said.
The channel watchers give much significance to the development as the episode only testifies that enterprise market is exploding in India largely due to the improved customer awareness of security and their keenness, especially in the SMB segment to look for an appliance that can take care of all the security threats.
Pillai, who is likely to take charge of new assignments by mid May, has earlier also served Trend Micro as their country channel manager. Pillai was, however, not available for comments.
