By

New Delhi, Feb 19, 2008
Alcatel-Lucent, a provider of services and software for communications networks, plans to increase its focus on the enterprise segment, which is largely untapped by the company so far.
The company is presently scouting for channel partners who have the required technical skills in both voice and data operations, and have a deeper penetration in their area of operation.
At preesent, only 10 percent of the company's revenue comes from the enterprise segment while the remaining 90 percent comes from the carrier customers.
Talking to ChannelTimes, Shekhar Agrawal, director-enterprise and vertical, South Asia, of Alcatel-Lucent, said, We already have a complete range of communications solutions specifically suited to the needs of enterprises. However, most of the enterprises don't even know that we offer such a wide range of communication solutions. It's time that we should go and address them.
The company provides IP telephony, LAN switching and routing solutions, along with contact center, unified communication and security solutions for this segment.
Currently, the company has 20 resellers and 3 SIs with Neoteric as its national distributor. It intends to increase the number of resellers to 50 by this year end to reach a wider market.
According to Agrawal, Alcatel will be targeting various vertical segments including education, government, healthcare, hospitality, SMBs, IT, IESS and finance in India as part of its expansion plans.
Also, the company is planning to increase its visibility by participating in various national and international enterprise events.
