Apple today launched the Final Cut Server -- a software solution for media asset management. The Server automatically catalogs large collection of assets and allows search across multiple disks and SAN volumes with view, annotation, and approval of content from anywhere using a PC.
"The Final Cut Server seamlessly integrates with our home-grown solution, which adds new value to our system that we have relied on for years," said Evan Schechtman, CTO of Radical Media. Radical Media is a multinational media and entertainment company with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin and Sydney.
The Server scales to support workgroups of different size, ranging from small to multinational news organizations. "Final Cut Studio has been used in the Indian film industry for quite some time. Few films like Lakshya and Don have been edited on this software," said Richard Townhill, director of Pro Video Product Management of Apple.
The product includes Compressor 3, Apple's industrial strength digital encoding and compression tool, which delivers pristine format conversions for publishing to DVD, broadcast television, Internet, Apple TV, iPod, iPhone and other mobile phones. This server is available for Rs 47,100 for one server and 10 concurrent client licenses and Rs 93,300 for one server and unlimited client licenses.
