BenQ Corporation, a provider of LCD monitors and projectors, has appointed Chennai-based Inspan Infotec as its national distributor for Joybook notebooks. The product was launched in Delhi and Bangalore in May and August, respectively.
Explaining the go-to-market strategy, Max Hsu, Business Head (Consumer Electronics), BenQ India, said, "With new alliance, our next strategy is to scout for focused partners. We have categorized our focused partners into five sub-categories including exclusive retail partner, shop in shop (multi branded shops), display partners, IT resellers and large format retail stores. Currently, we have 55 multi-branded retail partners, and we are looking forward to double the count in Q1 2009."
Additionally, Inspan's services will be supported by Neoteric Infomatique, who will offer post-sales support to the product through 62 locations across the country. Joybook carries one-year overseas region and replacement warranty on spare parts.
At Present, Joybooks are available in six models specifically for entry- and mid-level users at a price point of Rs. 34,000 to Rs. 47,000. Besides, the company is planning to bring new netbook and high-end notebooks to Indian market by 2009. It will also re-open BenQ Zone, which was previously known as BenQ IT Zone, along with channel partners.
"After consolidating our position for BenQ monitor and projector products, this year, we will increase the visibility of our notebooks through retailers. We will take micro and macro marketing strategies for Joybook in A-class cities and upcountry markets. We are targeting consumers and professional segments mainly," added Hsu.
On the other side, the vendor has undergone a restructuring exercise. Now, BenQ India operations will be headed by Govindan Ramanujan. The company has also announced the de-merger of Qisda Corporation, one of the OEM group company.
