Brocade, provider of data center networking solutions has introduced the Brocade 7500E SAN Router, a Fibre Channel over IP (FCIP) extension solution for entry-level remote data replication.
The product has been designed to meet the needs of smaller businesses and remote offices. "The Brocade 7500E solution for remote data replication provides a new entry point within Brocade's leading portfolio of SAN extension solutions for smaller organizations, and offers a cost-effective remote office option for larger enterprises," said Mario Blandini, director of product marketing (infrastructure division) from Brocade Data Center.
The product has a lower initial port density and bandwidth capacity, giving users a lower entry option for remote disk replication without compromising advanced services and high availability features such as redundant power supplies, Fast Write, compression, SO-TCP and fabric isolation for greater resiliency.
When growth dictates additional Fibre Channel port connectivity, increased bandwidth or additional functionality-such as inter-fabric routing or encryption services-7500E users can upgrade to full Brocade 7500 capability via a software license upgrade. The solutions are compatible with the entire portfolio of Brocade data center infrastructure products, including the new DCX Backbone.
7500E is available now from Brocade and Hitachi Data Systems; and will be available in March through the company's independent channels. It will be available from other Brocade OEM Partners in the first half of 2008.
