Buffalo Targets SMBs For NAS Devices in India
By

Mumbai, Dec 18, 2006
Buffalo Inc, the Japan-based development and manufacturer of wired and wireless networking, storage and multimedia solutions, plans to aggressively tap the small and medium-sized businesses in India for its new line of LinkStation Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices with the business-targeted LinkStation Pro.
Morikazu Sano, senior vice president of global marketing at Buffalo Technology, said, "There are no NAS devices in the market that accurately meets the growing network demands for small businesses. They either lack the necessary features or they are too expensive and complicated for a small business, which typically lacks the internal resources for maintaining complex network devices.
"With the LinkStation Pro, we are directly addressing our SMB customers' needs and providing them a high-performance, feature-rich NAS device that is basically maintenance-free and highly affordable. The LinkStation Pro truly is the perfect NAS device for any business that wants to store, share and secure its mission-critical data. There simply isn't another NAS device like it on the market today."
The company also plans to promote its brand and expand its channel base with its national distributor, Advent Infotech.
Atsuo Shibata, head-India operations, Brother, said, "From January onwards we are holding channel meet programs in every city, primarily starting with Advent's city offices' locations, and coinciding these meets with technical training programs and certification programs also."
Advent has branch offices in all the four regions of India with sub-disties and super-dealers available in around 10 cities. Shibata said, "We will now focus on the west zone, primarily its major cities initially. Advent is now our service center also."
According to Shibata, SIs play a vital role in as the NAS products are particularly suitable for selling through the SIs. "Since we are confident about the quality of our products, creating awareness amongst our SIs about our products is very important. We are therefore organizing training programs to update them with Buffalo's latest products and technology," he added.
The LinkStation Pro simplifies file storage and sharing and offers business users a professional feature-set including SATA (Serial ATA) and Active Directory Support, which allows the device to utilize domain users and groups.
The company also plans to recruit a country head in the long run to handle its Indian business and channels. Buffalo intends to spend approximately Rs 5 lakh every month in India.
