CMDA Pune Strikes a Familial Chord With Members
By
Vijay Vedala
Mumbai, Jun 29, 2007
In a 'smart' move aimed at strengthening its relationship with its members and their family, Pune-based Computers and Media Dealers Association (CMDA) has initiated a smart card initiative that will entitle its members to discounts of up to 25% at select shopping malls, hospitals, pharmacies, restaurants, health clubs, etc.
"Discounts of up to 25% is new among channel associations," said Brijen Shah, president of CMDA and head of this new project. "Our Association is like a family and this initiative has come due to our mutual concern for each other," he added. Shah feels this move will further add to the unity of CMDA and also help the members to do better business.
CMDA has dispatched CMDA ID Cards to 148 members so far. The ID Card will also act as a smart card and enable the members to avail of the special discounts from the select outlets. Each card has a microchip containing the details of the member.
By October 2007 CMDA intends to upload the names of these outlets on its website with proper segmentation. "This will serve the dual purpose of advertising the store's name as well as guiding the members towards the store," Shah said.
The proactive resellers' body of Pune has been in the news for its various initiatives such as the recent tieup with Jetking Training Institute for providing skilled engineers to the channel and efforts to bring the distributors under the channel wing and improve mutual relationship. Its latest initiative could set the trend of catering to the welfare of the channel fraternity.
Meanwhile, Sunil Gugle, former vice-president of CMDA, was unanimously elected as the new president of the Association at its recently-held Annual General Body Meeting.
Speaking to ChannelTimes, Gugle said, "The last three years have been very fruitful from CMDA's perspective. My main challenge will be to keep up the good work and run the Association more smoothly." He further said that CMDA was looking forward to set a new vision for the coming years and was moving towards becoming more professional.
Gugle has been a member of CMDA for the last eight years.
