Canon Revamping Service Support Mechanism
By
Pearl Mistry
Mumbai, Apr 11, 2007
Aiming to regain confidence among the partners, printing major Canon India is all set to rework on the service support that has been an area of concern for the vendor.
"To provide complete service support across India, we have opened 32 Canon care centers in 32 towns which include B & C class cities also", said Alok Bharadwaj, vice president, Canon India. Further adding, "Along with this we also offer home service for Canon printers wherein engineers visits your place and service the printer".
The vendor has also started giving out swap warranty on entry-level printers in which the printers that are under warranty are replaced and not repaired, he said.
Another initiative taken by the vendor in this regard is to provide mobile services to partners in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. Under this initiative, a mobile van travels from one partner to another to pick up any defective product lying with the partners and return it the very next day after fixing it. "We hope that these measures will work to strengthen our partners faith in the brand," he noted.
He said with Mumbai being the top two markets in India and retail revolution catching up, Canon wants to focus on the retail segment with special focus on the metropolis market. "Basically the focus in Mumbai is more on retail. Thus, we are identifying retail outlets and doing a special program for the dealers viz IT imaging zone (ITIZ)," stated Bharadwaj.
Lately the vendor has been at the receiving end when Salem IT Association in Tamil Nadu had slapped a ban on sale of all products from the digital imaging company after raids were conducted by Canon in the town. When asked about the company s stand on the issue, Bharadwaj clarified, "We are not aware of any such step and whatever raids are conducted is carried out by Canon Global and we are not involved in any way with the raids conducted."

Mumbai- west India can address all unresolved service issues to Dinesh Kashyap ( Good Man ) 98210 86177. Canon as a product is Great, if service is properly handled nothing like Canon. Also Canon should provide cheap AMC service for all products. For paid services, a printed card rate should be introduced. |

Cannon high end MFDs / copier service and supplies avaliablity is so poor that no existing customer dares to touch canon again. hence the CANON name only has a buyer in the form of the roadside jobber earning his livelyhood who is using the Reconditioned machine serviced by a Non-Canon person. |
