Canon to Intro 90ppm Scanners, Add New Partners
By
Rita Ghose
Mumbai, Dec 30, 2006
Canon India plans to boost its specialized scanners segment with new 90 ppm scanners as the demand for these products are increasing in the government and corporate sectors.
Puneet Datta, marketing manager, business imaging solutions, Canon India, said, "Canon has introduced new scanners that can scan up to 90 pages per minute in color, which will hit the market in 2007. These scanners will offer feasibility and will be bundled with software such as Adobe B7." At present, Canon claims to be the only company with scanners in the market that scan more than 25 pages per minute.
According to Datta, till date the mindset of the customer was a major block for the sale of these products in the market. "The government and corporate segments already had scanners in place and so were not open to buy new ones. They weren t giving importance to the productivity of the scanners. However, the scenario has changed and with new Acts and laws passed that have made most work time-bound, the demand for these printers is increasing," he said.
The company, which has currently six partners in Tier I cities for these specialized scanners, is looking to double the number in the coming year. It is also planning to add 10 partners in Tier II cities in 2007.
Datta said, "We ensure good margins to our partners and will provide more ATL and BTL support in 2007. ATL and BTL support was not done on a big scale so we want to start it off in a big way. Recently, we had held a hoarding campaign at NCR and plan to launch more campaigns to inform customers and thus pull in the customers for our channel partners."
So far, the company has conducted training program in sales and service for its Tier I partners and plans to conduct one for the Tier II partners once they are appointed.

Boss, sorry to say but Integra Micro has nothing great to do for Canon India & help out developing Canon's Scanner business. Integra is more a broker than a dedicated partner in Scanner business. They have Kodak,Canon,Fujitsu & they even have a 3rd graded brand like AVISION, so they nathing great in hand to justify any principal. They too have habit of throwing big big craps & stories. I would say even Fujisan is much better choice for Fujitsu than Integra, atleast they are dedicated to a particular brand for last 2/3 years & their team is comperatively much stronger & technically sound than Integra. Even Kodak's plan of promoting Redington as ND for their Document Scanner,is I guess wrong. Only problem with Kodak is their PAN India presence in Scanner business. They are Zero in East, growing up in North, doing well in West but again the problem is with person they have in Mumbai, Amit Kakatikar, whoc seems to be little oversmart with channels & south is doing well as Susheel John sits in Chennai. Moral of the story is everyone is there in the field except Canon & this delay may make them pay a price interms of loosing business. As an well wisher & being an partner in same product line, I would request Canon India's head Mr.Aloke Bharadwaj & Kodak's Document Scanner Business Manager Mr.Susheel John to give a thought & decide how 1st they can work on their PAN India presence in this business as this will help people like me developing business & grow together. All the best. |

Quite interesting, This place has become a place for bashing other people and companies. I am of firm belief that such kind of forums have now started getting used for settling scores and so on.
I saw a comment published in my name and tried to disassociate myself from it. And then there is a claim that Integra does not have the capabilities.
I just wish to point out that if that was the case not all four major brands would be partnering with Integra for scanners. Myself being an ex-Integran and being in the market for last 8 years, can claim with some surity, that no other company than Integra understand the High speed scanner market and business and scanner technology in India as Integra does.
I am of the firm belief and feel that such forums should be used in constructive manners and not for bashing each other.
If anyone has a genuine grievance against services of Integra/ Canon. They can get in touch with any Integra office and I am sure that the same would be attended to on utmost priority. |

Shonee, if you are in favour of Integra then have you gone out of Integra?????? Do you have reply???? & even if someone comments on Canon's operation then whats your problem. You too know that we did not get any help from Manu Bhatia, forget about help, he does not even have the idea about present market status in Doc; Scanner, so how would expect something out of a deaf & dumb character like Manu Bhatia??? And Puneet Datta?? Yaar, he is more busy in doing PR work then taking up marketing activities in Doc; Scanner so its very clearly understood that Canon is as usual loosing ground in value product in India... |

God knows why Mr.Bharadwaj/Mr.Gangopadhyay are still keeping their eyes closed, a good product line, all are doing well, all are into feild except Canon's Doc; Scanner team.
Due to the improvement in technology and proliferation of the Internet and e-governance, there has been an increase in the number of production scanners that manufacturers are including in traditional copiers. Thus, an intelligent DMS would entail gathering documents through scanning, conversion or importing, storage, indexing, retrieval, access control and most importantly, availability as needed & to implement this process Document Scanner would surely be 1st & last choice of Scanner Hardware. I guess Canon India's market research & planning takes time otherwise why are they still busy in planning....isn't it?? Anyways, GOD BLESS CANON INDIA..... |

Canon seems to be a slow runner in Doc; Scanner business. We tied up with Canon, had no idea about their marketing policy.Only Big Big craps are given by Manu Bhatia & eventually he is not at all technically sound in this line of business. I was wondering why Canon India is still sleeping over Doc; Scanner business which is told to be the future of IT business. They are more happy with copier selling than getting into new line of business. I guess they have committed a mistike by hiring people like Manu Bhatia from outside industry for Doc; Scanner business. They should have had tried to dislodge the existng team of Fujitsu/Kodak. Fujitsu's NDs both Fujisan & Integra, both are having a strong presence across the country, specially I would take name of Fujisan team which is very strong, they are doing exceedingly good in south & east region.Integra too is fairly strong in north region. Anycase God alone know when Canon will wake up & when they will wake up they may find few more global players Bell & Howell,Plustek. Even Kodak too is doing well in few A/Cs in south & west & their north operation too is expected to do well soon.

A wrong claim is being made here in this write up,Canon is not the only brand in Document Scanner segment with more than 25 PPM.Fujitsu,Kodak are the other brands available in Indian market who are having more than 100 PPM Document Scanner. Kodak's policy of appointing Redington as ND for Document Scanners has litterally failed,as its a solution based product & Redington being an box moving ND can never succeed in Document Scanner. FUJISTU is doing exceedingly good in 4 regions, especially South & East regions are contributing better than other 2 regions, both East & South regions have bagged good orders in last qtr.We are associated in Dehi with Fujitsu thru their ND Fujisan, we have the update feedback on this product category.Infact 25 PPM Document Scanners are merely contributing 25% of sales, major contributions comes from 50+ PPM segment & moreover its a product segment which requires adequate strength in back up software too. However, we wish success to Mr.Puneet Datta & his team. |
