Computer Kitchen Hopes to Earn Rs 25 crore
By
Shantheri Mallaya
Bangalore, Dec 27, 2005
Bangalore-based Computer Kitchen is planning to introduce e-market places and retail outlets for "high technology" and personal lifestyle products.
Computer Kitchen, a brainchild of Rahul Gupta, MD of Xserve India, will be showcasing products of vendors like S-Media, Apacer and Hi-Tech Solutions, with add-ons and customized features which in turn would be sold under the umbrella of Computer Kitchen.
Gupta said, "I wanted to create e-market places and retail outlets, where customers could find some interesting and not-so-common range of gadgets and lifestyle products. The customer should be able to browse the website or visit stores where they can have a look and feel of the products and compare with whatever else they have seen or even heard off. They can explain the need and application so that Computer Kitchen can cook the solutions to meet their personal requirements. Computer Kitchen would want to position itself for such a requirement."
Computer Kitchen was launched on December 9 at the Digital Lifestyle 2005 held in Bangalore, where, according to Gupta, it did a business of about Rs 4 lakh in a span of three days.
He added that they would be inaugurating a new office on January 2 at Adugodi, Bangalore. He also said that a team of about 25 people would be a part of Computer Kitchen. Gupta said that the new business has been set up at an initial cost of about Rs 50 lakh, which may eventually go upto Rs 1 crore.
Gupta hopes to earn a revenue of about Rs 25 crore in the first year of operations. Targetted at top-end customers, Computer Kitchen is now in the process of negotiating with retail outlets like Home Shoppe, Laptop World and Creative Infotech. They would also be appointing select Innovation Solution Partners (ISS). "ISS would be partners who share the same passion in our concept and would not be mere margin seekers. We hope to strengthen our base in the South before we branch out elsewhere," Gupta added.
Sylvester P. Moorthy, GM, Computer Kitchen, said, "Computer Kitchen is an exciting venture in this era of technology boom. The philosophy of Computer Kitchen is to create new concepts and solutions to provide an enjoyable digital lifestyle and enhance the productivity of corporates, enterprises and end users. We would be conducting corporate roadshows in the coming months to position ourselves as a brand."
Gupta said that Computer Kitchen products would increase visibility in the market from March 2006.

CK is an out of the box, initiative. The branding has be the prima facie focus of CK because there are many other players mushrooming up in the same stream. Since the people are pretty fresh to digest the cookings of CK, therefore the positioning has to be done in an appropriarte fashion. CK is still far away, in raising itself to the bait of the tech savvy foodies..........in achieving that position CK has to keep placing new flavours to the endusers to maintain the IT aroma.....lets see....... |
