D-link Offers Wi-Fi Gear to Tata Communications

D-Link, the networking company, has announced that Tata Communications (Tatacom) has selected it - as its (Tatacom's) supplier for providing wireless access points and antennas, for deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots across the country.
To wirelessly enable these hotspots, Tatacom has deployed D-Link Access Points; DWL-3200AP, DWL-2100AP and Wireless Antennas - ANT-24-0800, ANT-24-0801.
The company's hotspots include the major domestic and International airports, leading premium star hotels, educational institutions, sports stadium, hospitals, chain of restaurants and coffee shops. Its partners include companies like Taj Group of Hotels, Le Meridien, Caf Coffee Day, Barista, Manipal University, Wockhardt, amongst others. The company has also been driving innovation through creating hotspots at non-traditional locations like mobile stores, IT stores, and railway stations.
It may be noted that Tata Communications and D-Link have collaborated on a number of projects to date, to deploy Wi-Fi hotspots across the country.
Prateek Pashine, vice president (Retail Business Planning) of Tata Communications commented, "Tata Communications was looking for a solution where the features and functionality of the equipment, and ability to remotely manage the growing number of hotspots were the key criteria for selection. We evaluated a number of potential suppliers, and selected D-Link for deployment of indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi Access Points in our hotspots."
Mahinder Mansukhani, VP (Service Provider and Business Development) of D-Link stated, "It's a great fillip to the Indian Wi-fi story. Combining D-Link's unmatched product range in the wireless & broadband space and Tata Communication's expertise in providing broadband services - will enable seamless roaming and usage of wireless broadband for data, voice and video communications."
