BenQ has made a new addition to its LCD monitor array with the introduction of the E2200HDA. As per the company, it is the world's first 21.5-inch full HD 16:9 LCD monitor, featuring 100% mapping to 1080p content. Included within its E and M series of LCD displays, BenQ plans to release 5 21.5-inch and 24-inch full HD 16:9 models, later this year.
The M series is expected to offer a total home multimedia experience. Equipped with a 2.0M webcam, integrated speakers and microphone. The HDMI and DVI-D provides easy connectivity to gaming consoles, blu-ray players and set-top boxes. A headphone jack and D-sub among other features have been packed to cater the gaming and movie enthusiasts.
Speaking about the target segment, Viraj Talmaki, regional sales manager, BenQ India, says, "We are also looking at corporate groups, but a lot of enterprises due to space constraints do not opt for LCDs. So gamers, movie enthusiasts are more likely to be drawn to this. The Monitor business is always growing. Earlier people were reluctant to buy LCDs, but most of the CRTs now are getting converted in LCDs. People are looking at options which are really tech-savvy. Users at home have their PCs in their bedrooms where they would want to enjoy movies, play games. Therefore, the LCD acts a great substitute for television. All uses will get integrated into one monitor."
The Senseye and photo human vision technology, endows it with clarity, depth and boldness in five preset modes-standard, dynamic, photo, movie and Srgb. While, a high 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio gives it a dark detail definition, by automatically adjusting the display's backlight to optimize light levels for every scene.
The E2200HDA combines a 1920x1080resolution with 10,000:1 DCR, 300nit brightness and a 16.7 colors display to render sharp clarity to dark details. Two additional E series 1080p models will be introduced later, featuring HDMI and HDCP (with HDCP), 2ms GTG response time and Windows Vista premium certification.
"Applications for LCD monitors are less for pc usage and more for internet and multimedia. It is entering into a space where end customers are buying monitors from retail outlets, and availing services from consumer electronic showrooms. This is not something our channels are used to in terms of customer profile. So we are trying to hone the retailers' soft skills and talk to them, make them confident about it. What we do differently is, we look at case studies and see what would help them sell our products to end-customers," said Ish Bawa, brand consultant, BenQ India.
BenQ has Neoteric as its all India distributor, along with sub-distribution models across different cities.
