Epson has launched its latest PictureMate portable photo printer, PM270 4R, in India.
The new product comes complete with a carry handle and folds into a box with no protruding parts. It comes with an optional battery pack. The company claims that this compact device can produce a lab-quality photo in 37 seconds.
The new PictureMate is integrated with Epson Claria PhotoEnhance, which is an automatic scene correction function that optimises skin tones, color casts and exposure levels.
The new printer comes with an extensive card slot bay, which supports the most common type of memory cards. With a tiltable 3.6" color LCD screen, it allows PC-less printing. Alternatively, users can plug in their PictBridge devices for direct photo printing. Users can also use the optional Bluetooth toggle, which allows the PictureMate to receive images from any Bluetooth-enabled devices including mobile phones and notebooks.
All the features in the printer can be activated with the help of a touch button. However, compared to previous models, this product has less buttons and a new interface. It now has a dedicated zoom function and improved design - featuring membrane textured buttons - which are easier on the fingers than plastic keys.
The product hosts Micro-Piezo print head for high-speed printing, and Advanced Variable Sized Droplet Technology for precision control over ink droplet sizes (up to 5760 dots per inch resolution). It has a single ink cartridge.
Retailed as a bundle, the PicturePack comes with 150 pieces of 4R photo paper and one ink cartridge (sufficient for 150 printouts). With this machine, the average cost of photo printing is around Rs.9/4R Prints, according to the company.
The PM270 4R is priced at Rs.11,500 (MRP), and is now available in the Indian market.
