Fujitsu To Revamp India Operations

By Sandhya Malhotra
Delhi, Feb 8, 2007

After being in the news for all the wrong reasons, Fujitsu has major revamping plans up its sleeves.

Amidst speculations of its supposed withdrawal from India, the IT and communications solution provider is looking to add a new distributor to its existing two, viz., Salora International and Fujisan.

We will be aggressively marketing our products and accelerating our channel expansion plans in the near future, said Sailesh Sharma, channel manager-western region, Fujitsu, who has been recently appointed by the company as part of its revamping strategy. The company is also likely to hire two more channel sales mangers for the north and the south regions by the end of February 2007.

Lately, the company s Delhi office wore a deserted look, with barely a few people handling the entire India PC division and the situation worsened when Rengith Nair, channel manager, PC division put down his papers in December 2006.

Rakshit Thussu, assistant manager- marketing communications admitted that the company was suffering manpower shortage. Putting up a brave face he hastened to add quickly, "We are undertaking some structural changes in order to revamp India operation from the scratch."

Fujitsu entered India in 1982, setting up a liaison office in New Delhi to start off its telecom business. Subsequently, it undertook business in computing products. In IT, Fujitsu's business in India revolved around products like ultra portable laptops, tablets, TFTs and scanners, catering to the corporate, educational institutes and SOHO segments.

Thussu informed ChannelTimes that the company will discontinue its desktop business and will only focus on its ultra portable laptops and TFT monitors product line.

According to Paresh Gathani, general manager-marketing, Fujisan, a national distributor for Fujitsu, "Our relationship with Fujitsu has been strong for the last three years and as the company is restructuring its manpower, we are looking forward to expanding our relationship with the vendor into the upcountry market."
Will Fujitsu withdraw India operations?

To all those who have been posting comments about Fujitsu.......read this carefully. Fujitsu is Number one IT company in Japan. I have visited Fujitsu offices and factories in Japan. It is a marvellous company with high business ethics. Fujitsu products are also the best in their category. You cannot blame Fujitsu just because one or two people in that organisation did not perform well. Fujitsu has around 1,60,000 employees world wide. The amount of respect that this company has world over, no Indian company can ever win that respect. Just wait and watch. Fujitsu will slowly make its mark in India too. Bamboo grows slowly but grows strong. Fujitsu is like bamboo. It will grow strong. Fujitsu Consulting, another Fujitsu company is doing great work in India. It will hire another 10,000 employees in the next few years. Similarly Fujitsu India will also grow strong in India. Just wait and watch. All Fujitsu channel partners know that they are working with a world class company who will never let them down. Hold on. Wait and watch this space.

Enough of this Chinkys yaar, how long should we let these play foll around us???? All these are craps, Redington has tied for Fujitsu Notebook in addition to SErver business, Fujisan will probably stay back from notebook business, Salora is opeation only in North India, no support planning,no feed back & just see how stupid this Rakshit guy is, ads in print medias with Saloras contact nos. with their landline nos. of their offices with 7 digits whereas all metro landline nos. are with 8 digit. Isn't it great? Why wont Fujitsu suffer if the India team will have members like Rakshit who talks really big & does nothing....... I guess we channels are still required to edifne our thoughts & decide whether we really should entertain this brand anymore in India.
