HCL Appoints 7 New RDs in Western Region

By Shantheri Mallaya
Bangalore, Jan 16, 2006

HCL Peripherals (HCLP) has appointed seven new RDs in the western region in the second phase of its RD network expansion plan.

Confirming this expansion, V. R. Kirubakaran, national manager, display products, HCLP, said that the company has appointed distributors for Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Nagpur and Jalgaon.

The new appointees are: Ahura Infotech (Mumbai), Datacare Corporation and Komal Systems (Pune), Cyber Peripherals (Aurangabad), Aditya Peripherals (Kolhapur), Bindal Infotech (Nagpur) and Computer Beam (Jalgaon).

According to Kirubakaran, "The new distributors have reasonable experience in the IT distribution business and they could add strength to the HCLP LCD, CRT monitor as well as the mechanical keyboard segments. With these new appointments, the total tally of RDs now stands at 42."

To enhance its presence in Maharashtra, the company had started the process of identifying the right persons more than two months ago.

Kirubakaran said the company has tentatively planned roadshows and a channel meet in March 2006 to create an interface for the vendor and the channel.

In the next quarter, Kirubakaran said, HCLP would be penetrating the B & C class cities, "having now entered all the zones in the country". "We would want to capitalize on our existing RD profile for best results in the non-metros," he added.
What do you think of HCLP's RD expansion plan?

Nonsense- If few other small players do it , it doesnt mean a Co with 12000(HCL) should also do It.They have been the pioneers to start IT products in India. Atleast they should treat their channel partners - like partners and not like some "road side wendors". stop defending them - they are loosing market share like anything in India. and who told u thier products are the best??????? hahahaha jus the customer they will tell you about HCl products and their after sale service

its a **** all dealer policy they have, They will Dump their surplus stock to a disti first, and secondly will appoint a new disti in same area with maitaining another surplus dump. Liquidation or commitment from them is zero, has mentioned below , even after all this they want to go & sell directly to our customers. Starting from the RM to the NM to the CEO all vibe in the same wavelenght.

RD Concept of HCL is already flop in Bangalore? HCL will not regain Dealers till it stops hijacking the customers of dealer partner. There are many incidents that dealer give entry to HCL first time to his customer place, second time HCL is there in every bidding without informing its dealer partner and HCL itself is the compitator for poor partners. Do you need HCL to create one more compitator. My suggestion is do not entrtain HCL for your corporate customers/bulk orders. HCL should feel shame for its mode of operandi.

Sanjeev dont blame the junior people at HCl. they just follow orders from thier top management. Yes you are right the top managemnt is who think in the short run for themselves and hence loose a lot of channel business and hence their channel business has not grown like HP, Samshung, IBM, Acer. Same will hapen for their notebook business.

HCL has poached on their dealer's and resellers' accounts from the time they started off, HCL Frontline, HCL-HP, etc ..etc....It's in their work culture and cannot be helped....No use complaining because the account managers in HCL are trained to steal from their dealers. Someone has rightly mentioned in this discussion that HCL will appoint new RD's and then bill directly to resellers.

Very True. HCL people proudly call themselves a 2 Billion Dollar Company. But when it comes to pay to thier dealers and suppliers, thier commitments are worse than a 2 Crore Company. We are still to receive our claims 6-8 months old. We are asked to wait till next week for last 4 months but thier next week never comes. Even a stinging mail to thier Top bosses in Noida is useless, as no one bothers.

hehe hehe. HCl first appoints RD in different locations and then will start billing to the reseller directly. See what happens in their notebook business soon. margins are wafer thin , Cos like HCl cannot work upon its cost - revenue balance like IBM, HP,Acer, Samsung, and hence will crumble soon
