Hewlett-Packard India, one of the leading PC vendors, and Avid Technology, a global player in digital nonlinear media creation, management and distribution solutions, announced an exclusive partnership to provide an educational pre-bundled PC at a special price for the media educational sector.
This product is aimed at educational institutes offering professional and vocational courses in mass media and students pursuing such courses.
The bundled solution is configured on latest HP XW 4600 workstation and has Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.00 4MB/1333 CPU, 4 GB RAM, Quadro FX570 256MB PCIe Graphics. It is shipped with Avid Media Composer software. The solution can store over 15 hours of DV25 video and is priced at Rs.1.05,000.
According to Krishan Sanghi, country head of Avid Technology, though technology in the field of mass media is changing constantly, educational institutes often lag behind due to limit on their affordability. "This agreement is a major step in our efforts to provide students the latest in technology at affordable prices and address the gap in their skill set vis- -vis industry standard products. With this agreement, we aim to provide wider access to technology, resulting in more skilled media students."
"Backed with a strong research and development team, HP is able to deliver the right mix of productivity, ease of use and customized technology and software to the education sector. With this partnership, we aim to reach out to the student fraternity and provide them with a value proposition," said Anurag Gupta, country manager-Workstations, Personal Systems Group, HP India.
Worldwide HP and Avid have been working together to provide joint solutions. Extension of this relationship in India would bring availability of complete solutions to users from a single source at special prices and better customer support. The solution will be offered through educational channel partners of HP and Avid.
