HP India Intros 3 New Document Scanners

By ChannelTimes Staff
Mumbai, Apr 29, 2006

Hewlett-Packard, the digital imaging and printing solution provider, expanded its scanner portfolio by introducing a versatile line of document scanners, which boost business productivity and efficiency.

The new product line consists of HP Scanjet 7800, Scanjet 8350 and Scanjet 8390.

Commenting on the launch, Manu Sharma, country category manager, imaging products, said, "With government compliance issues and a growing number of businesses relying on scanners to organize and manage documents, HP's new scanners provide more document management options for organizations looking to accelerate workflows, reduce the cost of operations and control risk while managing business-critical documents."

"The need for decentralized scanning of paper documentation is increasing in demand because it helps in improving not only speed and accuracy, but also cost-effectiveness of processing information in a large organization," he added.

The USP of these scanners is their single pass duplex scanning feature. The scanners are equipped with two scan heads instead of just one, as is the usual case. With two scan heads, both sides of the document can be scanned in a single pass, thereby doubling existing speeds. This new range of document scanners transforms a paper-based system into a more efficient paperless system for improved workflow management.

The compact HP Scanjet 7800 is a fast and powerful sheet-feed document scanner designed for medium-sized businesses. It provides scans at up to 25 pages/minute or 50 images/minute with a 50-page automatic document feeder. It can scan up to 1,000 pages a day and offers single pass duplex scanning. The Scanjet 7800 is priced at Rs 49,990 plus taxes.

The Scanjet 8350 is a complete document management solution for workgroups with high-volume scanning needs. Apart from a scan speed of 25 pages/minute or 50 images/minute, the scanner can organize and share documents, convert scanned paper documents to editable text or application files. It is a versatile scanner that can scan 3D objects and transparencies. The 8350 is priced at Rs 54,990 plus taxes.

The Scanjet 8390 is HP s fastest document management solution with high-speed unattended scanning and best-in-class performance. It is ideal as a shared resource for workgroups within a large organization. It delivers scans at a speed of 35 pages/minute or 70 images/minute and has special software called Kofax VRS and Digital Stegmark, which maximize image clarity as well as embed digital watermarks to authenticate scanned documents or images. The Scanjet 8390 is priced at Rs 64,990 plus taxes.

HP Scanjets have a one-year limited on-site exchange warranty and are backed by HP Total Care service and support program. Total Care delivers advice, learning and support in and out of warranty 24 hours a day, round the year.
What is the potential for the new solutions?
