HP is emphasizing on enhancing managerial and financial capabilities of its partners. Heading towards its goal, it is coming up with Catalyst 2.0 for instilling financial management skills in its partners. Contextually, it has earlier launched, Catalyst 1.0, which concentrated on making the CEOs familiar with basic HR, managerial and leadership qualities.
"We had a national Partner Advisory Board meeting in February with top 25 premium enterprise partners, after which we thought of introducing our partners to three key programs -- National Account Management, Management Programme and Sales Efficiency Programme. This is a value addition from the company for our partners," says Sameer Mathur, head for Solutions Partners Organization, HP India.
HP's partners are now interested in management development programmes, and are concentrating in building the leadership qualities. They now understand the importance of management, therefore HP wants its channel partners to grow big by these programmes. Catalyst 2.0 will help its partners learn more about mergers and acquisitions. According to the company, the first line partners who have already attended the programme are managing the company in more strategic level, and even teaching the juniors managerial qualities. "We have plans to tie up with some management institute and train our partners professionally through a general management programme," says Sameer.
HP is also heading forward in opening 25 solution centers in various places to meet its customer requirements. It has already opened five such centers in Chennai, Pune, Haldwani, Dehradun and Ahmedabad. The company is on the verge of diversifying the qualities of the channel partners. It is trying to shape its partners professionally, so that they prove to be the best in any field. HP is giving a new definition to the channel partners it's not just about selling, but about being a leader in any field.
