Hitachi Inducts Nguyen as Vice President

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) has announced the appointment of Thao A. Nguyen as vice president of worldwide hard disk drive (HDD) manufacturing. Nguyen will lead 3 Hitachi GST HDD manufacturing facilities in Thailand, Singapore and Shenzhen.
Nguyen will be based in Shenzhen, and he will be the most senior executive there. Hitachi is aiming at achieving the best in class in cost, capital efficiency and productivity, by bringing commonality in technology, equipment, quality and environmental targets, and optimizing the supply flexibility through increased productivity and commonality.
"Hitachi HDD manufacturing plants in Asia, including Shenzhen, have experienced tremendous growth in recent years, and have helped satisfy strong customer demand for our products. The announcement will help us better serve our global customers, especially customers with operations in Asia," said Hiroaki Nakanishi, chief executive officer of Hitachi GST.
Nguyen has more than 20 years of work experience in the HDD industry, as well as creating and managing technology and product development for Hitachi GST, IBM, Maxtor, Micropolis, and SAE Magnetics.
