IT Junction Downs Shutter: CPs' Hope for Biz Rises

By Sandhya Malhotra
Delhi, Jul 03, 2009 1732 hrs IST

The closure of IT Junction, an IT retail chain of Sahara/SES India, has provided Gorakhpur retail partners with an opportunity to re-build their business. Besides Gorakhpur, the other IT Junction stores in Basti and Sultanpur have also closed.

According to Gorakhpur-based Sanjay Jalan, Owner, Jalan Computers, "This development has given a big boost and has come has a relief for small and mid IT retail partners. Now, we can operate in the market and earn some margins. Since IT Junction offered products at a lesser price, our business was in complete turmoil. Post this closure, we're seeing good number of customers buying from us."

Similarly, Mohammad Yusuf, Executive, Microdot Computers, said, "The closure of IT Junction has also encouraged IT channel partners to open new retail shops in the city. We have recently opened a first and big experiential IT zone in Gorakhpur."

"The market for notebooks and lifestyle products is getting matured in Gorakhpur, and people have started liking the concept of IT retail mall. Hence, this is the right time to invest in retailing, and we will be opening our second retail shop in next month," said Jalan.

What do you think of this situation?

ITJ was always offering prices at a lower price and thus creating a mess in I.T industry. But with the kind of advertisement and marketing activity they were doing they were all generating new customer. It was some good and bad for all of us. Now ITJ being closed i didn't see a single partner grow from which he was doing earlier. He is still doing those no. which he was doing while ITJ was there. We have to have our basic and focus clear whatever may come and go. LFR like ITJ , crazypricing and many other will still come and go but we have to be consistent and update ourselves according to market trend.

Anyone trying to win customers by price and not by value addition has to close shutters. The tragedy being, because of these people other genuine dealers suffer and sometimes vanish.
