Imation Maps Pan-India Strategy

In accordance with changing market situation, Imation, a provider of removable data storage products, has decided to realign its channel structure from a local distribution business model to national distribution model.
The company, which is aiming to grow by 100 percent in the next 3 years, intends to appoint at least 50-plus partners in the Privilege Partner category and more than 200 resellers across the country by the end of this year. The company is in the process of consolidating its channel base and exploring avenues with national distributors of repute to gain pan-India footage. The company plans to mark its presence in the unrepresentative territories.
Sanjay Koul, country manager of Imation, said, "Imation is a global brand and we intend to leverage on this strength to enhance our brand visibility in India as well. This will be done through channel network expansion across the country."
Imation has acquired global brands like Memorex and TDK, which it intends to make available in India extensively this year. With such a diversified product portfolio and global leading brands, the company is positive to make its presence felt across every user segment in this industry.
In addition, the company also has plans to take the retail route and generate B2C sales online. Out of the 25 major retail houses in US, products of Imation are available from 23 of them. Koul further said, "We have existing global tieups with retail majors like Woolworth, Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, etc. All of these have plans to enter the Indian retail market in a big way and we shall leverage on their presence here."
To educate its partners, Imation has an online Privilege Partner Program for its select channel partners (CPs), wherein CPs can avail access to special benefits like exhaustive product information and updates, image library, marketing and sales tools, custom marketing materials, brochures and sell-sheets, support, program and promotions.
Koul said, "We are happy with our existing channel network and we thank them for their continued support and patronage." He added, "We empower our channel partners through regular trainings, reseller events and meets, product updates, POP material and Privilege Partner Program."
