Ingram Micro, Transtek Infoway To Distribute MSI

By ChannelTimes Staff
Mumbai, Mar 12, 2007

MSI has announced that Ingram Micro and Transtek Infoway will be its new distributors for India.

According to a company statement, "The addition of these two distributors will not only enable MSI to grow in terms of sales and volume but also to create market space for high end products."

While Ingram Micro would be distributing the company s AMD platform based motherboards, Transtek Infoway would focus on Intel Platform. However, MSI Graphic Cards would be the second product line distributed by both of them.

With this appointment MSI would be able to penetrate deeper in the B, C and D class cities through their distributors branches. MSI would be announcing special rewards for these newly appointed distributors sales teams to push the throttle on.

The company has also opened up its first branch office in Mumbai. By the end of 2007 MSI is planning to open its branches in all metros to get closer to its valued customers and to serve them better in terms of product information, availability and services.
Will this improve MSI's hold on smaller markets?

I think MSI moving in right direction. They improved service. Now they are changing disty. lets see who all disty would remain after this reshuffle. Infact Asus also has now 5 disty, Biostar has 6 disty, Asrock Najar nahi aata, only abacus which again is moving to Biostar. Rashi also moving from Asus to jetways. Foxconn after going to jupitor started getting on shelf of dealers. Gigabyte shifted to national disty rather then D Link. So we can say consolidation and changes going on in MB industry like other.... HP-Compaq, IBM-Lenovo, AMD-ATI etc

MSI has changed many disties since it entered India, SES Tech , CyberStar etc. but were unable to change its fortunes. its high time MSI understands that increasing the number of disties does not help but ultimately the product gets killed due to competition on disty to disty level , than dealer to dealer.Ingram already has Gigabyte mobos but most of the time there is no stocks or they are not interested. MSI will also be "ONE" of the "MANY" brands which Ingram has. Best of Luck to MSI

you are right, MSI it seems has no clear direction. Ask for MSI cards from their disti Tirupati and they will sell you Gecube cards instead of MSI. It seems they are least bothered about promoting MSI. With this type of approach appointing more disties will do no good for MSI. As for their after sales services it is pathetic.

Hope this gives stability to MSI. They have been so far working with all small time regional shopkeepers like maxtone, basant triupti. They need to be more agressive in channel schemes, merely giving prices wouldnt help.
