Intel Set to Intro Quad-Core Processor in India
By
Rita Ghose
Mumbai, Nov 9, 2006
Intel is launching the Intel quad-core processor this month in India specifically targeted at gamers, graphic designers and the media industry. It also plans to target those industries that use a wide variety of software applications wherein the quad-core could make the applications work more efficiently.
Narendra Bhandari, director Asia-Pacific, SSG-Global Relations Division, Intel, said, "Intel has taken a massive leap this 2006 by going from dual to quad. We are pioneering this Quad technology and are making people more aware about its benefits. The channel will be made aware about the products based on this technology. They will be given tips on which segment to target and what to communicate to consumers. The biggest segment for this product would be gamers. We won't target only A class cities, but all cities that have broadband."
The Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad Processor is designed for gamers and PC enthusiasts who perform multiple complex tasks simultaneously. Intel promises exceptional performance for highly threaded digital media creation software and ultra-realistic games. It is equipped with a Digital Thermal Sensor (DTS) that enables efficient processor and platform thermal control. The quad-core processor utilizes the Intel 975X Express Chipset-based platform supporting dual graphics.
Chetan Shah, director, Xpress Computers & president of TAIT, said, "This processor is absolutely out of the world! It beats any PC processor by a large margin. The target is the high-end users segment like graphics and media. Intel usually holds integration and sales training on the launch of new products. With Intel's exhaustive training, the channel will soon be informed about this exciting technology."
With the Intel Channel Conference, which is held every six months, scheduled to be held this month channel partners are waiting eagerly to know more about the quad processor and the training programs.

The launching of the Intel quad-core processors will definetely help the software companies as the efficiciency will increase multifold but what about the compatibility with the machines in the bigger network ? Will it make the previous technology redundant in some way. |
