Intex has elaborated plans to expand its business in Western India for the financial year 2007-08.
During the last one year and a half, the company has initiated several plans to enhance its reach in the western market. Apart from A class cities, the company's major focus was on B and C class market, which included cities like Yavatmal, Nanded, Sholapur, Amravati, Sangli, Lonawala, Ulhasnagar, Ahmadnagar, Panvel, Navi Mumbai. Also, it initiated regular roadshows to have a greater reach within the channel community.
For the year 2008, Intex is planning to increase its distributor base from 150 to more than 250. Further to this, the company will also foray into retail to gain a larger market share in this region.
Speaking about this initiative, Ramesh A. Vaswani, executive vice-chairman of Intex, said, "There is a lot of untapped market for Intex products in western region. Our emphasis on having better relationship with channel partners has helped in building brand awareness among the end customers."
The company has segregated Western India between different cities and states, as per their market share. This region today contributes about 30 per cent of its total turnover. As against a turnover of Rs. 76 crore in the last financial year, the company is targeting Rs. 115 crores from the region this year.
