Intex Ventures into Power Electronics

By ChannelTimes Staff
Mumbai, Nov 8, 2006

Intex Technologies, the IT hardware and electronics company, announced the launch of Intex Power Pro digital Home UPS, which brings power protection to all electronic equipments in a home including the PC, and battery series.

Starting October 2006, six models of Power Pro digital Home UPS and two models of batteries have initially been introduced in northern and eastern India. These six models belong to two series - Classic (Quasi Square Wave) and Fusion (Pure Sine Wave) consisting of 600VA, 800VA and 1400VA configurations. The two models of batteries are ITX 150 AH and ITX 150 Tubular. Intex is also offering optional trolleys, which a user could buy to house the Home UPS-battery set.

The company has introduced digital technology, micro controller-based design with smart and aesthetic looks. Capable of running on both low (up to 120V) and high voltage (up to 260V), the Power Pro digital Home UPS can run not only home equipments and a PC through a changeover switch during power cut, but also be used for providing electricity backup to sophisticated hospital equipments and labs. On an assured warranty of 24 months, both the series of Home UPS have MOP ranging from Rs 4,700 to Rs 8,500. The package of home UPS plus battery plus trolley is available at an MOP ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 17,000 depending on the number of batteries and power configurations.

Narendra Bansal, managing director, Intex Technologies, said, "Intex has always maintained an aggressive growth plan and this new endeavor is a step forward to attain our objective. Innovation and diversity are the driving forces to achieve our dreams. After introducing entertainment and lifestyle products in the electronics segment, we are looking forward to this power electronics milieu with state-of-the-art offerings combined with quality service backup."

Shio Thakur, national product group head-power electronics, Intex Technologies, added, "Considering the rampant electricity problem, the demand and utility of Home UPS has increased and will attain more importance in coming years. The market is buoyant showing more than 70 percent growth year-after-year and with only 25 percent share for the branded players. Keeping in view this huge potential, Intex intends to capture a considerable share. Along with competent service and sales team, we are focusing on expanding and strengthening our channel network so that we can spread the range across the country soon."

Apart from power electronics, the company's existing portfolio consists of more than 250 products spread across 21 categories, including PCs, notebooks, TFT & CRT monitors, DVD players, Home Theatres, MP3 & MP4 players. With a target of 1, 50,000 units by next FY, Intex plans to acquire a place amongst top three players by 2008-09. An entirely independent division equipped with specialized team and channel network has already been set up for this venture.

Targeting the household sector, Soho, SME, government and corporate enterprises, the range is manufactured in a dust free ultra modern plant having computerized and fully automatic work environment. Along with qualified and experienced personnel for R&D and sales operations, a team of engineers and technicians has also been positioned to provide efficient and quality after-sales service.
What do you think of Intex's new venture?
