Kingston Eyes Numero Uno Status in India
By
Pearl Mistry
Mumbai, Sep 15, 2007
In keeping with the company's vision to attain numero uno position in India, the newly appointed country manager for Kingston, Nitin Malhotra has revealed his plans to attain the objective - promising more aggression in terms of pricing, profit margins, and product offerings along with a more structured business model.
Speaking to ChannelTimes, Malhotra, who's been a part of the core team strategizing the company's business since it commenced operations in India, said, "We're looking at covering the entire geography of India, phase wise. We're already present in the north, east, south, and west, but we'll look to increase our headcount."
Malhotra added that channels are an important medium in our business model. Commenting upon the business, he said, "We want to have a more organized distribution structure and increase the number of our Tier-II partners." He also said that Kingston's partners would continue to profit from the memory products vendor and could expect better margins in the next term.
"We've seen only the run-rate products being offered in India until now, but soon we'll make the entire global product range available and move up the value chain," said Malhotra.
Fielding a question regarding the scope of retail in India, he said, "Retail, at present, hasn't reached a stage in India where it can possibly eliminate the distribution channel. As of now, all the noise that's being made is on the potential that the vertical holds." He added that he'd advise channels to explore this potential.
Commending the Union Budget for the current fiscal year, Malhotra said that the sale of flash cards has increased exponentially owing to the revised duty structure; reducing duty from 21% to 4%.

I think the Quality is too Good but the price is still remains high and the system integrators cant affford for that . One who is asking for cheap rate assembeled PC then i think the system integrator can not prefer the kingston ram. I am using it but one who is asking for the kingston then its ok and we are having good margins and returns with those who wants quality.
Though Transened and Zion memory modules is in Great demand,
Thanks..Dipen |

Kingston India repairing centre accepted the memory and after 6 days returned me saying its Fake Kingston. What a SHAME! kingston has many problems internally in india like service support, fake, price and its employees fighting among each other to get better higher position. if you gonna put all things together its sure going to fail.
its strange to see country manager being replaced within 1 year. They have not said single word regarding previous country manager. He is replaced all of a sudden.

Kingston talks big, but their prices are still pretty high compared to other brands. They can't compete in the market with such prices. I think they need to cut their prices substancially to get more market share & drive the others like Dynet, Transcend out. The distributors, channel partners also don't reduce the prices as they also want to make a quick buck. |

Agreed
Kingston can be number one only in releasing news to press. Every week they release news to media that we will do this and that.
And now with Nitin its impossible. Its memory boy not intel. |
