LG Electronics India (LGEIL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of LG Electronics, South Korea, has unveiled a scheme titled "Kissing the Blue" on its newly launched Blue Ray Writer (model GGW-H20L) for its resellers.
The scheme is applicable to all the resellers, corporate resellers, VARs, solution providers and assemblers and is valid for the period 17th March to 16th April 2008.
Under this scheme, the partner needs to buy 20 units of the Blue Ray Writer and sell 15 units during this period. Minimum of 10 units should be bought in March and the remaining 10 can be purchased in April. The same needs to be bought from LG Regional Distributors and would entitle the partners for a trip to Australia on qualifying for both Buy and Sell slabs.
Commenting on this new channel scheme, R. Manikandan, business group head, IT division, LGEIL, said, "While the product is exciting in itself, this program is aimed at enhancing the excitement among the channel partners. Being a niche product, the reward program is not based on pure buy-in, but on sales-out as well. While such rewards work in the benefit to both the partners and the company, care is taken that the stocks do not pile up at the channel end. This is in continuation of LG's constant belief in channel health."
The LG Blue Ray Writer has India's fastest Blue-ray disc (BD) writing speed i.e., 6x Max. While a normal CD has a storage capacity of approximately 700 MB, a double layer BD can actually store up to 50 GB of data. In a layman's language, 73 CD contents can be stored in 1 BD Media. Also, it is more reliable than a magnetic tape.
The target consumer segment in the initial phase will be the tech-savvy early adopters, SMB/SME segments for data backup, software industries for storing large programs and architects for storing multiples of hi-resolution design files, the company said.
