Linksys Looks to Network with North-East Partners

By Yuga Chaudhari
Mumbai, Jul 26, 2007

Linksys - a division of Cisco Systems - plans to increase its brand visibility and make its products more easily available in the northeastern region soon. The company offers a wide range of networking products for small businesses.

Sanjeev Gupta, regional sales director (Asia Pacific) of Linksys, said, "We are working closely with our 2 distributors - Ingram Micro and Redington - and efforts are on to understand and meet the regional demand." He said the company had already initiated channel strategies to tap the market.

"We have seen a significant improvement in the brand visibility of our products both among the channel and end-users. We shall be extending our brand awareness programs to smaller cities as broadband penetration improves in these cities and the opportunity for networking business grows," he added.

Gupta said that Linksys will remain channel focused and will continue to make investments in brand-building activities.

Despite the growing market for networking products in the northeastern region, partners say they are facing availability problem especially of Linksys' products.

Siliguri-based Ashok Saha of Aparajita Computers said, "There is a lot of potential for growth in the networking segment. The Linksys brand promises a great market provided the company ensures timely availability of its products."

Added Sanjay Bhaskar of Digital Infusion, another Siliguri-based partner, "There is a growing requirement of networking products in the corporate and SMB segments, and companies like Linksys should identify this opportunity."

The company offers Linksys Connected Office, a common modular platform for delivering bundled voice, video, data, storage and security solutions, and services designed to address the needs of business customers. The Connected Office consists of 2 components: Linksys Business Series and Linksys One.

The Linksys Business Series of standalone voice and data products addresses cost and simplicity requirement, while the Linksys One solution offers a plug-n-play remotely configured and monitored solution for secure data, voice and video provided from a partner.
