Logitech, Skype Team up on Video

Peripherals maker Logitech and Skype, a global Internet communications company, announced that they have teamed up to bring free video calling to Skype users worldwide.
The video feature, part of the beta version of Skype 2.0, was enabled on Logitech s webcams after it was released for evaluation by the Skype community. Logitech said it had worked together with Skype to certify its Quickcam webcams and PC headsets for use with the newly announced video feature. Skype Video includes a full-screen video mode and is available at Skype s website.
The two companies plan to jointly market Skype Video and Logitech webcams and headsets worldwide, engaging in regional promotions and direct outreach to Logitech customers and the Skype community. Skype will offer select Skype-certified Logitech webcams and headsets for sale through its online store.
"We are delighted to team up with Skype to bring video to Skype users worldwide," said Junien Labrousse, Logitech senior VP of the Entertainment and Communications Business Unit. "In a very brief period of time, Skype has brought Internet calling into the mainstream, across the globe. We re confident that Skype will bring similar momentum to video calling, as consumers will see how useful and easy it can be. And we believe our lineup of webcams and headsets is the perfect complement to Skype Video."
Logitech webcams that have been certified by Skype include Quickcam Fusion, Quickcam Orbit, Quickcam Pro 5000, Quickcam Pro 4000, Quickcam Chat, Quickcam Zoom, and Quickcam for Notebooks Pro. Logitech headsets that have been certified by Skype include the Logitech USB Premium Headset 350, the Logitech USB Headset 250, the Logitech Premium Stereo Headset, and the Logitech Internet Chat Headset.
