MSI Cautions Partners Against Unauthorized Sales

By ChannelTimes Staff
Mumbai, Jun 18, 2007

Keeping in mind the long-term mutual benefit of MSI and its partners, the motherboard vendor has issued certain guidelines for its channel partners to avoid irregular and unauthorized inflow of material.

Under an intimation received by MSI India from MSI Australia, some quantities of the vendor s AMD platform motherboards have been imported to India through unauthorized channels. Though the exact quantity of this inflow is not known, channel partners who have taken any material through unauthorized distributors of the company are recommended to return those boards to such offenders.

MSI India will find out the serial numbers of the products coming in India and block the warranty of those numbers from global warranty RMA System to ensure that the product will not get any warranty from MSI Global.

According to the guidelines issued by MSI headquarters, henceforth, MSI India will neither be liable to honor the warranty nor give a solution for any product sold via the unauthorized channel in India. Also MSI India will not be liable to give any scheme, technical support, and promotional offers on unauthorized channel products.

The company has declared that it takes no responsibility if any thing goes wrong with product or related to a product coming from unauthorized channel and has requested all MSI authorized distributors to not give support for such products.
Will these initiatives prevent unauthorized sales?

hello, A REAL FREE AND FRANK SUGGESTION TO MSI. PLEASE LEAVE INDIA. msi has never been able to give anytype of proper service from last 3 years. its better if they stut shop in india rather then trouble dealers with their hopeless service network and style. MSI gives worst WORST ,very BAD after sales support. a BIG request to MSI to spare dealers as all dealers work on low margins and cant suffer so much. Thanks

i don't know how many boards, sahara has imported but it could be more than 3-4k in one shoot & MSI's peoples have been trying to save their's jobs just because of this 3-4k boards out of -------. if u concentrate more on the business, u could done more. only they can save themselves from themselves.

Mr. Rohit of IM technologies , Can u develop your business 20-30 times in 2-3 years. before putting Q or putting comments, pls. rethink your lines. Ingram & AVnet, both are atleast 14-15 years old company & Sahara is just two years old baby & pls. ask AMD what they did for AMD & What Sahara has done for AMD. Everyone has some business pros. Some are working on Profit % & some are playing on volume business. Is this too bad o play on volume business. Leave this. concentrate your business man. in just two years span of time, Peoples are comparing INgram/Avnet with SAHARA.

I think MSI should take more stiff step. If the company is there to support you and hear your greavence why any one wants to buy stolen or out of warranty or other thing. If the importer wants to get benefit of any brand, whether it is Intel, Samsung, Sony or MSI, they should respect that company's policy and business ethics. Sahara is not behaving like distributor. they are behaving like one time importer or seller. or even grey mkt dealer, who just want to enchash the brand name. They did the same thing with lenovo. may be with others also.

You are right, before going with Sahara, has any one checked the background of the owner of Sahara computers - Gupta brothers. where was they in 97/98, and why they left Singapore and went to SA?? ??? George is only COO and front face to hide many things..

What more stiff steps u want to take Mr. S.Ramanathan. u wanna threat partners like MSI or on the behalf of MSI. India is market where busines has been happening on the relationship not on the threat. MSI can not control the channel & instead of giving confidence, they are threating the peoples & by putting mails. HOw stupid r they? on month end, again, they will come to us to do the nos. Nationally, u can count MSI's dealers on fingures. Gigabyte does not have bolls to kil MSI but believe me MSI itself have created more noise instead of the channel-partners on inported -boards. MSI mgt - pls. think twice before putting stupid peoples on the payroll.

One should appreciate the initiative taken by Sahara Computers. MSI is selling this board for Rs 2850 in the market. When Sahara was selling the motherboard for Rs 2400. Now only MSI is offer price of Rs 2300. We should ask MSI why have they cheated us charging us such a price and how it is possible for one disti to bring in at that price. Why does MSI cheat people and not offer best price upfront. Next time we should negotiate with MSI before of buying or get the product from elsewhere as well. Thank you Sahara for bringing MSI down on the prices.

Sahara is not a disty of MSI, and they never got distribution of MSI, may be due to this Sahara is doing this. I heard Sahara is ready to give MB at any cost, if you buys AMD CPU with it, seems big game going within AMD for Sahara to atleast sell AMD CPU, which they failed in front of bigtime disty like Ingram & Avenet max. MSI was the only MB which sells, so could be AMD + Sahara has to import this to sell there CPU.

you are right, the way sahara works looks like they are small time dealer, we have not seen any National disty working like this. You can check with Genuine dity like Rashi, Ingram, Avenet, Esys, RIL, Savex, Neoteric... Just due to this they & there imployees have name and respect in mkt.

MSI should put more efforts in improving their service in India (by not offering credit notes) rather than putting their efforts on such trivial issues. However SES have given an indication to the iT community, the kind of margins distis are making. Rather than complaining about this, IT resellers should start thinking about selling products at margins beyond Rs. 25 & 50????

what a bull shit decision, Mr. vineet, tell me one thing, if soeone is going to ask for the warranty of that inported boards, they will refuse by saying that it is imported one. will this line satisfy N-USer, will he buy MSI-products again, NO, Never. Secondly, they suld keep fair diff with the int. markets na, not 400-600 rs. diff. Where is this profit going on, where is the play. earlier peoples were importing intel bt intel never stopped giving warrnaty on that, they have taken a hit to stop that. ANyway, intel is intel & they buggers are MSI & always remain MSI.
