MS Extends Toll-Free Service to 28 More Cities

By ChannelTimes Staff
Bangalore, Sep 13, 2005

Microsoft has announced that it is extending its toll-free customer service and support telephone availability to customers in 28 additional cites across India.

In September 2005, Microsoft's customers and partners in 36 cities can now reach the company's Customer Service and Support organization by dialing the toll-free number 1600 111100, which is accessible by BSNL/MTNL phone lines. In addition to expanding toll-free access, more customers without STD (long distance) will now be able to access Microsoft's toll-free support number.

Manish Sinha, managing director-Asia Pacific Customer Service & Support, Microsoft, said, "We have expanded our toll-free telephone availability to provide broader access to customers and partners throughout India. Previously, customers in eight cities could reach Microsoft at no charge. Now, we've expanded that coverage in order to provide better access to those who seek customer service or support in order to maximize their use of Microsoft technologies."

These improvements in India are part of Microsoft's continued effort to improve the accessibility of its Customer Service and Support to customers across the globe, the company said.

The 36 cities covered by the toll-free service are: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Nagpur, Vadodara, Jaipur, Nashik, Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Indore, Agra, Faridabad, Pondicherry, Vellore, Ghaziabad, Jalandhar, Shimla, Mysore, Meerut, Mangalore, Hubli, Ambala, and Tirupur.
How significant is this move for MS partners?

Good move but better to have a single no like 3033 something which can be dialed from any landline/mobile phone coz' 1600 nos can't be dialed from private telcos connections which are there in plenty there in metros now
