Microsoft Appoints new Director for Windows Live

Microsoft Corporation India today announced the appointment of Rajneesh Chopra as director-Windows Live Commercial to spearhead Microsoft s efforts around Windows Live in India.

In his new role, Chopra's focus will be on ramping up penetration of key Live web services like Hotmail, MSN Messenger, Spaces, etc. especially in the commercial enterprise and partner space.

Prasanna Meduri, director-Windows Client Business Group, Microsoft India, said, "Windows Live Commercial forms a crucial part of Microsoft s business. With the wealth of experience Rajneesh brings in on all aspects of online marketing and operations, he will definitely help us drive and grow this significant aspect of our business."

Chopra, who has just started his tenure at Microsoft, said, "I am excited that I have this opportunity to enable businesses to quickly build or extend community capabilities, which will help them engage with their end-users seamlessly and at the same time enable the end-user to connect, learn, share and communicate with each other."

Chopra joins Microsoft from Web18 where he headed marketing for leading online destinations like moneycontrol.com, IBNLive.com, cricketnext.com and the Hindi portal Josh18.com. He was responsible for brand-building, acquisition and retention of new users, search engine optimization, creating new properties, repackaging & repurposing content for monetization, among other activities. Prior to Web18, he set up and spearheaded the CRM initiative of Indiatimes.com, specifically the e-commerce business, and drove marketing and operations for Indiatimes business knowledge platform, Indiatimes Mindscape.
