Microsoft, the software major, and TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs), a not-for-profit global network of entrepreneurs and professionals, have entered into a global partnership to promote and support local software economies across the world.
Led by the India subsidiary of Microsoft, this partnership will facilitate global programs for startups and entrepreneurs.
Under the partnership, Microsoft will provide access to software, services, technical guidance and markets, while TiE will facilitate access to nearly 15,000 entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, private equity firms, law firms, and technology and management professionals.
Expressing his views on this partnership, Paul Murphy, director-innovation, Microsoft India, said, "This investment is in line with our goal to develop knowledge economies across the world. In India, for instance, the partnership with TiE will enable Indian entrepreneurs across all sectors to move up the global value chain by building intellectual property and applying IT to their business for a competitive edge."
"To help foster an environment of continuous innovation, Microsoft provides a broad range of policies, programs, and products that are focused on ethical business practices that promote user choice, industry opportunity, interoperability, and transparency. Our partnership with TiE provides Microsoft the ability to further this commitment," Paul added.
Speaking on behalf of TiE, Suren Dutia, CEO, said, "Partnership with Microsoft will enable us to achieve the goal of building a healthy environment of entrepreneurship - the single most powerful instrument towards growth."
With 8 million small and mid-sized enterprises, 40 million tiny businesses, and multi-billion dollar retail, media, eGovernance, and education markets, Microsoft sees significant opportunity for innovation in India.

Smart a@@#s these fellows must be. Theyw ant to control everything. They want to train students, the teachers, the shopkeepers, and now the budding enterpreneurs on their software, so that the stranglehold on the market remains. This is a tendency that has been going on to keep the microsoft monopoly alive and kicking and if we Indians don't want to get out of their trap, we can, at our own cost, peril by agreeing to what they wish.
By offering the money (of others who come in as VCs and investors) through their attractive (done at our cost) brands, they want to lure the budding enterpreneurs so that the whole creativity is limited by one word "microsoft".
My fellow contry-people, beware of such mal-practices. Please be careful as to who invests in your project. Please don't take money from just anyone. You are not a prostitute, but a creative fellow on whose shoulders the future of the country rests. |
