Moser Baer to Enter into Peripherals Space

Announcing its foray into the PC peripherals industry, optical storage manufacturer, Moser Baer has revealed its intentions to triple the number of its channel partners by next quarter.
In an e-mail interview with ChannelTimes, Sudip De, AGM (domestic marketing) of Moser Baer stated that the manufacturer has begun working with 100 partners and is looking forward to sign up 300 partners.
"We're seeking partners who are financially stable, have a good reach in the channels, and are committed to business," he said.
Moser Baer, together with Taiwan's Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions has launched its Optical Disk Drive (ODD), that's combo drive and DVD writer named as 'Moser Baer-Lite-on'.
Through this product, which is being made available in the top 44 cities of India, the manufacturer's targeting the IT hardware, consumer, and stationary segments.
Earlier, talking about the product, Deepak Puri, CMD of Moser Baer India, had said, "We see a lot of potential and latent demand in the PC peripheral market in India."
The E-IDE 20x DVD writer can burn DVDs at speed of up to 20X (provided you've 20X media as well). It supports single (DVD5) and dual-layered DVDs (DVD9), as well as, most other types of media like DVD-R, DVD +R, etc.
The DVD writers and combo drives will be priced at Rs 1800 and Rs 1400, respectively, and will be distributed by Moser Baer's two national distributors, viz., Neoteric Informatique and Salora International.
