Motorola recently introduced the plug-and-play desktop CPEi 150 for indoor fixed WiMAX deployments, the latest 802.16e-compliant Wave-2 ready addition to Motorola's WiMAX consumer product portfolio.
The new CPEi 150 features 1 data port, supports remote management and operates in the 2.5GHz band. The CPEi 150 automatically connects to the WiMAX network and authenticates itself for easy setup. An intuitive graphical interface also lets users troubleshoot and personalize their services.
The CPEi 150 is scheduled to be available for service providers during Q2 2008.
"Service providers are turning to fixed, portable and mobile WiMAX to extend coverage and add more wireless voice, video and data services to satisfy subscriber demand," said Fred Wright, senior vice president of Motorola, who oversees Motorola's WiMAX, LTE and other wireless technologies. "We continue to roll out products that enable data-rich and bandwidth-intensive applications for fixed, portable and mobile WiMAX users and deliver on the promise of media mobility."
The CPEi 150 is fully compliant to the IEEE 802.16e-2005 technology standard, which enables both fixed and mobile use. This and other products in Motorola's CPE portfolio will be delivered for WiMAX Forum certification to ensure interoperability among the global WiMAX ecosystem.
