NVIDIA Gears Up on Training
By
Vijay Vedala
Mumbai, Aug 29, 2007
Amidst growing concerns amongst the partners over the lack of technical awareness of NVIDIA products, the company has said that it's undertaking several training programs to consolidate its position in the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) market.
Rajesh Goenka, country manager of NVIDIA, said that the vendor believes that providing the right training is one of the most effective enablers for its channels to sell its products.
Goenka shared that the vendor conducts a variety of channel programs targeted at different types of partners. "We've the Select Partner Meet, wherein we identify individual vendors that require specific training and education to help them sell our products," he said.
Kolkata-based Surendra Sekhani, proprietor of Aman Infosys, however, complained that partners in the metropolis lack basic knowledge on various aspects of GPU technology and Nvidia products - which often results in lukewarm business.
Countering this, Goenka said that the graphics card maker has already undertaken 2 training programs for channel partners in Kolkata, and will conduct more such programs in the coming quarters.
Goenka said that they also conduct road shows from time to time as well as team up with key partners like Intel and Microsoft to undertake joint trainings. They also rope in distributors for training and try addressing all issues.
Answering questions on the issue of pricing, he said that with its wide range of products, NVIDIA is able to satisfy customers and partners at all levels. "Whatever be the customers' budget, Nvidia has a GPU that fits the bill," he said.
Goenka further stated that Nvidia has already made a strong presence in small cities Satara, Sangli, and Kolhapur.
