Netgear Announces Major India Initiatives

Netgear Technologies India, a subsidiary of the $565 million Netgear Inc. of the US, has decided to further spruce up its presence in the country by unveiling a number of India-specific products and expansion of manpower and marketing network.
Patrick Lo, founder, chairman & chief executive officer, Netgear Inc, said: "We are committed to enhance our presence in India. We are expanding our team to address various industry verticals such as education, banking & insurance, financial institutions, government sector and public-sector undertakings to further enhance our market share in the country."
"We have already become one of the largest selling brands in the wireless segment in India and we are further investing in manpower development to meet the growing demand of the local market. Very shortly, we will open an office in Mumbai and then we will move to other cities," added Lo.
David Soares, senior vice president, worldwide sales & support, Netgear Inc, added, "We have planned a number of new product releases to enhance our market share in India. The products are - higher-end gigabit stackable switches, Powerline products for home and small & medium businesses (SMBs), draft 802.11n wireless products for home & SMBs, and SSL VPN products for SMBs. We are also strenghthening our technical support helpline toll-free number by adding more technical staff to add more muscle to our customer care services."
The company is also introducing a new warranty and replacement policy under which business products will be corrected/replaced within 24 working hours, Soares informed.
According to Tina Huang, director-product marketing, Netgear Inc, Asia-Pacific, "Netgear India has already doubled its revenues in 2005 over the previous year and expects better growth in the current financial year in India and in the entire Saarc region."
Atul Jain, country manager, Netgear Technologies, India & Saarc region, said, "The presence of our Founder Chairman Patrick Lo, David Soares and.Tina Huang reinforces Netgear Inc's growing commitment and focus for the region. We plan to move beyond metropolitan markets and to penetrate the B&C category cities through innovative marketing and new product launches. We are aiming for more than 100 percent growth in the remaining part of this financial year and our national distributors, Rashi Peripherals, CyberStar, Advent Infotech, will provide required muscles to achieve the target."
Netgear designs, develops and markets technologically advanced, branded networking products that address the specific needs of small and medium businesses and home users. These products are grouped into three major segments: Ethernet Networking, Broadband, and Wireless Networking, which include switches, adapters, and secure wired and wireless routers and gateways.
