Nokia Managed Services to Be Led From India

Underlining India's emergence as a strategic hub for its global Managed Services business, Nokia announced that Managed Services will be led globally from India effective July 2006.
In addition to this, it also announced the extension of Nokia's managed services contract with Hutchison Essar to cover 19 of the operator's 23 circles and news that its global Networks Solutions Center in Chennai is now up and running.
Rajeev Suri, senior vice-president, Asia Pacific, networks, Nokia, said, "Today's announcements reiterates Nokia's longstanding commitment to India as a strategic market. They build on Nokia's recent manufacturing unit launch, and will enable us to create a complete telecom ecosystem in the country that will address not only local, but also global demand. It's also recognition of the high quality engineering talent that India offers. Going forward, India will play a pivotal role in Nokia's Managed Services success, not only as a large target market, but also from a delivery and direction perspective."
Ashish Chowdhary, currently the country head for networks in India, will transition over as the new global head of Managed Services by the end of the year. Chowdhary has played a key role in leading Nokia s networks business in the fast-growing Indian infrastructure market where Nokia has strengthened its position as a global and local leader with a dominant presence in the managed services business, the company said.
The move underscores Nokia's commitment to tap global services market growth, as well as India's outstanding outsourcing ecosystem and innovation pedigree. The current vice president for Managed Services, Henrik Sund, who successfully established and grew the business line, is moving on to new challenges outside the company.
