Nvidia Firms Up SLI Roadmap For Indian Market
By

Mumbai, Jun 28, 2007
Nvidia, the graphics card and chipset vendor, has aggressive marketing plans to promote its SLI and SLI-Ready platforms in India.
As part of its new plans, the company intends to launch a portal catering to its channel partners that will act as a marketing tool for its latest offerings and launches. The portal is expected to come up by the end of 2007.
"SLI is going to be a major push for Nvidia, for which we have come up with different marketing programs. Our channel partners will play a key role in implementing these plans," said Serge Lemonde, regional marketing director for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India (EMEAI).
Towards this end, Nvidia has been holding training and education programs for its partners to bring them up-to-date with its latest SLI products. Recently, the company completed select partner meets in 12 cities across India.
According to Lemonde, SLI-certified memory used in a Nvidia SLI motherboard promises 25% better performance. Also, selling an SLI system means that the partner has sold a value-added product as it comprises 2 graphics cards and an Nvidia SLI motherboard. "This is already a higher value proposition than just selling a system with a single GPU," he added.
Initially, the technology allowed users to run 2 graphics cards in their PCs, but today it has evolved into a full-scale platform comprising Nvidia SLI motherboards and Nvidia GeForce graphics cards coupled with SLI-certified memory and SLI-certified power supply.
Another SLI initiative taken by the company is in the internet caf domain. The vendor is working towards implementing SLI-based systems in these places, where there is a high demand for better visual and graphics experience.
The company also recently announced availability of Special SLI-Ready bundle in partnership with Rashi Peripherals and XFX. Along with this, Nvidia 8400GS, an entry-level offering in the GeForce 8 series, is now available. Nvidia 8400GS provides cost-conscious buyers with full DX10, Windows Vista Premium and PureVIde HD support.
