PCAIT Pitches In For Samsung Brand Shop

By Archana Venkatraman
Mumbai, Jul 3, 2006

Having failed in its efforts to broker a settlement between Samsung India and its only exclusive brand shop, Dimension Next Infocom, the Progressive Channels Association of Information Technology, Delhi (PCAIT) has extended its full support to the partner.

The issue concerns over Rs 28 lakh in rentals allegedly due to Dimension for the year 2004, which the vendor has flatly denied.

Located at Nehru Place, Delhi, Dimension Next Infocom, formerly known as Champion Peripherals, was appointed by Samsung in May 2000 as its exclusive brand shop showcasing Samsung products.

According to Sanjay Wadhwa, director, Dimension Next Infocom, "Payments for the monthly invoices for the first four years were irregular, but the payment from January 1 to December 31, 2004 still remains unpaid. Till September 2005, Samsung asked us to be patient, but later it stopped responding completely to all our communications. Then, when we approached PCAIT, it said the issue would be resolved. But when in April this year even PCAIT was not taken seriously I sent a legal notice to Samsung and now plan to take the legal course."

He added, "We were totally dependent on Samsung brand business and promotion and never sold any competitive brand for those four years."

V. Krishnan, secretary, PCAIT, who took up the issue with Samsung, said, "Some months back, I approached Samsung top officials, but they neither showed any inclination to clear the dues nor reciprocate our involvement with discussions or negotiations. They have flatly denied owing anything to Wadhwa despite legal documents and evidence available with this showroom." He also added that if Dimension takes a legal course, PCAIT would extend its fullest support to this channel partner.

When contacted, Sanjay Yadav, national sales manager, Samsung India, said, "Dimension was one of our Star Partner, but owing to non-performance and other issues it was blacklisted by the end of 2004. We asked for evidence of what we owe, but have not yet got any evidence."

On PCAIT's involvement, Yadav said, "PCAIT had got back to me, but probably was not aware of the entire scenario accurately and therefore backs Wadhwa." But Saket Kapoor, general secretary, PCAIT, said, "We have detailed insight of the entire story and back Dimension completely."
How do you look at the whole dispute?

Why un-ethical ? It can be legal or illegal. If its illegal, let Samsung act accordingly. If its legal, complainant should act further.

Dude... Yaha dono hi raja bhai hai. Samsung baap hai to Champion bhi Champion hai. Kaun kisko choona laga raha hai? Kapil Dada.. You are abusing Samsung on one hand, and becoming a distributor for Samsung peripherals on the other hand... and still selling samsung products in a big way... Kya baat hai bhaiyya... Double timing kar rahe ho? Yaha pe sab ustaad log hain.

You seem to be suggesting the Gandhian way of bycotting ? Not a bad idea. Maybe some prominent people in the industry need to get together and bycott Samsug. Surely Kapil will support with a matching action.

Is the issue dead, to the benefit of Samsung, or will there be lessons to learn from this event and deal with such companies (samsung) accordingly in future ?

Its a shame that some one can actually write bad about a senior person like sanjay yadav.I think the partners who know him and people who have even interacted with him can never write comments like this.

I would request channel times to take our interviews also on Samsung. I do not think anyone is dissatisfied.Mr Sanjay & Sujeet have been able to do a good job of ensuring peofitability for us.The same would not be possible without the IT head's (Harry ahn) support. If you see competition, they are almost non-existant in Delhi. All the negative comments seem extremely unethical if any partner in the country has written the same.

we think all this comments have been written either by the competition or some competition partners.Lets face the fact that samsung has never denied any claim to anyone whos claims are correct and justified. In case the people who have written comments think that they really mean what they say. Please write your names and phone numbers.Mr harry ahn is the only foreigner who is most visible in the indian IT market.I remember meeting him in my office.I am sure he is one of the person along with his present sales team responsible for bouncing back.

I think who ever have spoken to Sanjay Yadav should also have asked as to whether they have send a communication in writing that Champion has been blacklisted?? Also he is asking for proof of what Samsung owe. Instead he should bring the "proof" on the basis of which Champion was paid incentives prior to "end 2004". If indeed Samsung can provide proof as above, it will make things more clear, and if they dont have any proof for payments already made, the current management of Samsung, including Sanjay should be put behind the bars along with Vivek (??)
